Grand Canyon Volunteer Opportunities

Spring is upon us and summer is on its way!  We are quickly approaching the busy season of public education and outreach  as we spread the word about why we should restore wolves to the Grand Canyon ecoregion.  Your support in making southwest wolf recovery a reality is invaluable.  Please join the Grand Canyon Wolf Recovery Project as a volunteer for the upcoming events. 
 

Save the Dates!

City of Flagstaff Earth Day 2009
  Saturday, April 18th 11:00am to 4:00pm
Volunteers needed to provide public education at our information table at the Flagstaff City Hall Earth Day event.  We also need someone to be our friendly "wolf ambassador" in costume.

Volunteer Party and Outreach Training
  Saturday, May 16th 
Get to know fellow volunteers as we celebrate our work and review the information table education material and talking points for the 2009 "Howl for Wolves at the Grand Canyon Summer" campaign.  More information on the location and time of this event to come!

 Wolf Country Camping Trips
Upcoming primitive camping trips to the Blue Range Wolf Recovery Area are tentatively being planned for June 4 - 9th and over Labor Day weekend in early September 2009.  Enjoy the company of fellow lobo lovers as we look and listen for the rare Mexican Gray Wolves in the wild and cast any tracks that we might find.

  Fridays through Mondays in June, July, and August 2009
Join us for education outreach to Grand Canyon National Park visitors as you enjoy the scenic beauty of the Grand Canyon!  Volunteers needed to manage educational & interactive tables at the South and North Rims over four-day weekends, on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays in June, July, and August.  Training will be provided on Saturday, May 16th with additional training dates to be determined.

South Rim Dates:
June 5 - 8
June 12 - 15
July 3 - 6
July 10 - 13
July 31 - August 3
August 7 - 10

North Rim Dates:
June 19 - 22
June 26 - 29
July 17 - 20
July 24 - 27
August 14 - 17
August 21 - 24
